Course Overview
This course equips learners with essential digital skills for effectively navigating online platforms using mobile devices. Participants will explore strategies to assess information credibility, manage emails, and participate in video conferences. The course also covers practical steps for accessing public services, online shopping, and protecting against scams. Learners will develop key competencies in cybersecurity, data privacy, and digital netiquette, ensuring safe and responsible online behavior.
Course Objectives
- Utilise search engines and generative AI tools to assess the credibility, relevance, and accuracy of information found online using mobile devices.
- Effectively use email and video conferencing tools to compose, send, and manage emails and set up, participate in, and manage video conferences.
- Navigate and use online platforms efficiently to apply for government documents, pay bills, and access other public services.
- Create and manage accounts on e-commerce platforms, make secure payments, and recognise and protect against online shopping scams.
- Identify and protect devices from malicious software, safeguard data privacy, recognise and address false information and inappropriate content, manage screen time, set device limits, and practice respectful online behaviour (netiquette).

Learning Outcomes
- To identify false information with confidence in the online environment, differentiate between sponsored and non-sponsored content, understand the risks associated with the use of generative AI, and recognise false information generated by AI tools.
- To use digital communication tools by recognising common modes, features, and logos, securing accounts with strong passwords and authentication, setting up and managing email and video conferencing accounts, and creating and responding to emails and text messages.
- To send messages to individual and group recipients, share attachments such as photos, videos, or documents, and identify and address scams, inappropriate content, and malicious activities.
- To recognise features and logos of common digital government services, securely retrieve personal information, set up and manage the Singpass app, and secure accounts with strong passwords and authentication. They will also identify and protect against online transaction scams.
- To manage online banking accounts, transfer money using PayNow, monitor transaction history, manage app settings securely, and recognise and mitigate online transaction scams.
- To identify online shopping apps and their features, set up and manage accounts, use search and cart functions, make secure payments, monitor transactions, interact with service providers, and protect against online shopping scams.
