This course is only intended for the low wage workers in the PWM-Food Services Sector.
With a focus on achieving zero waste in Singapore, reducing food waste has become crucial for sustainable development. Currently, food waste constitutes nearly half of the average 1.5kg of daily household waste in Singapore.
This 1-day course helps learners understand the food waste issue and practical solutions to tackle it at various operational stages, with the aim of reducing food waste and bringing advantages to businesses, customers, and the environment.
By the end of this course the learner will be able to know:
Face to Face
1. Identify Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to dispose food waste
2. Identify operating procedures for equipment that process food waste
3. Determine the possible causes for food spoilage or wastage
4. Explain preventive measures to avoid food wastage and cross contamination
5. List correct recycling procedures
Able to read, write and speak in English (WLPN Level 3 and above)
Min 21 years old
Primary school level onwards education
Skills and knowledge of the F & B domain across industries
No prior experience is required
Learners who do not meet the MER may be considered through interviews on a case-by-case basis.
The following assessment will be held at the end of the course:
Progressive Wage Model (PWM) Roles - Kitchen Assistant / Cook / Senior Cook in Quick Service and Full Service.
Other Roles: Food and Beverage Service Staff, Restaurant Managers, Chefs and Cooks, Catering Staff, Cleaning Staff, Grocery Stores and Supermarkets staff, Institutional Food Services (Schools, Offices, Hospitals) staff, Central Kitchens and Food Manufacturers staff, Food Delivery and Takeout Services, Event Management Companies
